The Creek Rambler

Unique Experience

Want to see something different from anywhere else in Australia?

The fantastic maze of anabranches and backwaters of the Murray River around Renmark are unique.

In an aluminium dinghy, along with your guide Allan, you will have access to this special area – a part of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme and a RAMSAR listed wetland.

Working daily on the river for nearly 20 years has given Allan an understanding of the subtle changes taking place.

There is excitement as the  wind blows in your hair, birds fly around and  the riverbanks flash by as you travel quickly up the Murray River on the first part of your tour.

Looking for a holiday or short stay on a moored houseboat?

Ideal for Bird Watchers

Peace and quiet descends as you slow down in the backwaters and at times the boat stops and the engine turned off to listen to:

  • the birds
  • fish jumping in the water or
  • kangaroos or emus drinking at the creeks' edge – you never know what one may see or hear.

Looking closely at the water plants right next to you and the aquatic life amongst them, the different types of reeds and special plants in the understory will give you a greater appreciation and perspective of the environment around you.

Four distinct and diverse seasons throughout the year, different daily weather patterns and different times of the day all offer you a distinct experience. Along with Allan departure times and length of tour are negotiated with your preferences in mind.
